24/04/08 - LEE KERNAGHAN RUNS IN OLYMPIC TORCH RELAY

Current Australian of the Year and ABC Music artist Lee Kernaghan today ran in the Beijing Olympics Torch Relay in Canberra.

Lee was one of 80 selected runners including Olympic athletes past and present such as Libby Tricket, Ian Thorpe and Ron Clark.

"To me, running with the torch is all about supporting our Australian team and acknowledging the incredible efforts they have made over many years to represent our country at the highest level," Lee said.

"Despite the rights and wrongs of this world, my hope is that the Olympic spirit will continue to unite people and countries now and in the years to come."
